The investment objective of the Fund is to achieve long-term absolute returns by investing in growth stock in the technology hardware sector globally with a focus in the United States and the Asia Pacific region including Japan.
The portfolio manager will seek to achieve the investment objective by looking at opportunities in both long and short positions. The portfolio manager will adopt a balanced approach on both bottom-up and top-down strategies. In terms of bottom-up strategies, the portfolio manager will target more than 300 companies in the technology hardware sector globally on an annual basis, and select approximately 20 to 30 leading companies for investment. The portfolio manager will develop the Fund’s core holding position depending on Net Asset Value of the Fund. Volatility risks will be managed through macro-hedging.
Mr. Chen has over 20 years of experience in TMT strategy. Mr. Chen was the Head of Equity Investment Department of Invesco Taiwan Limited, senior Investment Manager at Pictet Asset Management (Hong Kong) Limited managing Pictet Greater China Fund. Prior to that, Mr. Chen was senior Investment Manager at Amundi Hong Kong Limited managing Amundi Hong Kong’s Korea and Taiwan portfolios.
Mr. Chen obtained his Master’s degree of commerce in applied finance and Bachelor's degree of economics from the University of Queensland. He is also CFA charter holder.
Mr. Lai has over 20 years of experience in technology hardware sector research.
Mr. Lai started his sell-side career in Citigroup Global Markets Taiwan Securities Company Limited and had been research director and head of greater technology research where he coordinates the company’s global research efforts and covers the Asia tech component sector.
Mr. Lai was ranked as No. 1 individual/team vote in the hardware technology sector of the Institutional Investor All-Asia research survey for three times from 2019 to 2021. He was also awarded No. 1 Stock Picker in Electronic Equipment in the 2014 Thomson Reuters Starmine analyst awards.
Mr. Lai obtained his bachelor’s degree in applied economics in National Chung Hsing University and a MBA from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (formerly known as Ciao Tung University in Hsingchu Taiwan).
