Caution against scams impersonating OP Investment Management Limited and its officers or employees

OP Investment Management Limited (the “Company”) has recently become aware of unauthorized and unaffiliated persons in PRC China falsely representing themselves as employees of the Company and its affiliates of the Oriental Patron brand.  These endeavors to solicit investors illegally are scams, in particular where the Company’s logo and name were used to open fake accounts and an unauthorized securities trading mobile application (the “App”). These same individuals would also use WeChat, QQ, phone calls or other similar communication tools to open unauthorized securities trading accounts with them.

Such fraudulent activities can be exemplified as follows:

  • Duplicating and using without permission the Company’s and its affiliates’ name and/or logo to conduct unauthorized business activities
  • Obtaining personal information from investors to open fake securities trading accounts in the App
  • Soliciting transactions by falsely claiming to have business relations with the Company and/or its affiliates
  • Approaching people by falsely claiming themselves as one of the officers or employees who assist in accounts opening
  • Inducing people to open securities trading accounts in the App claiming having business relationship or partnership with other well-known asset management companies

The Company hereby clarifies that the Company has not launched any mobile applications under the name of 東英投資(English translation: OP Investment) and has no direct nor indirect relationship with the App and these fraudulent activities. You may refer to the Company’s issued notice date 29 December 2021 for further details.

We urge our clients and partners to be wary of and take appropriate steps to guard against such fraudulent activities. Please contact us or report to us if you encounter any suspicious people in connection with the App, and report any fake mobile application to the Appstore developer to pursue further investigations from the Appstore developer and the relevant authorities.
